Wyclef Jean, ‘The Carnival, Vol. III: The Fall & Rise of a Refugee’ (Sept. 15)
Two decades after Wyclef Jean first released The Carnival — his multi-platinum-selling solo debut — and ten years after the record’s less-hyped sequel Vol. 2, Wyclef Jean will return with The Carnival, Vol. III: The Rise and Fall of a Refugee. Round numbers aside, the timing might be just right for Wyclef’s re-emergence — recent collabs with Gorgon City and The Knocks (the latter of whom repay the favor on this set) have reintroduced him to the underground, while DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” still has Wyclef’s “East Coast… West Coast” utterances from the original “Maria Maria” stuck in the heads of top 40 listeners nationwide.
